Initiative change request The current status in the CIM tool entry for ``Improving IV\&V Techniques Through the Analysis of Onboard Anomalies'' is inaccurate. Firslty, the title is incorrect. After a recent reorganization, the title was changed to the above. In subesequent email I asked that the word ``Onboard'' be deleted. On-board'' suggests that I'll be flying an on-board agent- this is incorrect since the current research is focused on pre-launch analysis of data. Secondly, the project as proposed in November 2005 assumed the construction of elaborate ontologies to be built from different projects and these were to be queried in order to bridge data base schemes. Subsequently, analysis was performed on the available data and the original plan proved... ambitious, to say then lease. For one thing, some of the planned for data sets did not become available. For another, we have to walk before we crawl. Before we can generalize from A to B to C, we need to know more about A,B,C,... Here is the data currently available to this project. The new plan is to study each in isolation, then try and connect them up. 1) Bayesian network of Titan's (now L3-communications) work practices, from Jim Dabnet 2) The SILAP databases from the IV&V planning and scoping team, from Markland Benson 3) Some PITS issue reports, from Ken Costello. 4) The LINKER data, from Wes Deadrcik 5) The COCOMO data, from Jairus Hihn (Note that the COCOMO data is being studied as part of a seperate initiative so no new funds will be required there for that work. However, we hope to level some synnergy between that project and this work.). For each data set, I would write two reports: one preliminary and one final report These reports would form the basis for a year three generalization where we connect what we can from the above. Along the way, deliverables will show what can be learned from each data source, in isolation. In order to transistion the old plan to the new plan, the following mapping is proposed. === YEAR 1 ================================================ 1) SILAP : preliminary report (given to SAS) 2) Bayes net : preliminary report (due now) 3) PITS: preliminary report (Nov 20 2006- Ken Costello needs this as part of another report he is working on) 4) LINKER: Dec 31, 2006 === YEAR 2 ================================================ 5) SILAP : final report: March 31, 2007 6) Bayes net : final report : July 10, 2007 (will be the SAS long briefing) 7) PITS: final report : Oct 1, 2007 8) LINKER: final report: Dec 31, 2007 === YEAR 3 ================================================ There are ten possible "bridges" between these data sources: For data source in ( SILAP or Bayes or PITS or LINKER ) SILAP BAYES PITS LINKER COCOMO SILAP X 1 2 3 4 BAYES . X 5 6 7 PITS . . X 8 9 LINKER . . . X 10 In year 3, I will deliver three reports testing the hypothesis that insights from data source 1 might apply to data source 2 (and vice versa). No, this won't connect everything to everything else so I'll pick the best pairs to explore. 9) Bridge report 1 : March 31, 2008 10) Bridge report 2 : July 10, 2008 (report to SAS) 11) Bridge report 3 : Oct 1, 2008 12) Final report : Dec 31, 2008
